Port Barton, Palawan

Port Barton, Palawan

Port Barton is one of Palawan’s gems, maintaining a quiet coastal feel. It welcomes visitors with its peaceful and laid back vibes. It’s a great place to enjoy Palawan, away from the more famous and heavily touristed spots on the island. It also very walkable, so no need to worry about transportation, since everything is within town a 15 minute or so walk.

Location:
Port Barton is located north of Puerto Princesa but before El Nido, about a two and a half or three hours drive from Puerto Princesa.

Getting to Port Barton: To get to Port Barton most people take a car or van from Puerto Princesa. If you’re staying at the Ocean Dream Villa Palawan, inquire about our Ocean Dream Villa Guest Car and driver for a more private, but cost-effective option.

Best Time to Visit Port Barton: Dry season is November to May, the same as the rest of Palawan, and is the best time to visit to get the best chance to enjoy blue skies and maximize your outdoors time. Rainy season is around July to September and while it is indeed wetter, you will likely be able to find better deals, due to it being low season.

Port Barton Attractions and Activities:
Quiet Beaches: If you’re into white sand and clear waters and want to enjoy those without crowds, Port Barton is the place for you. The beaches are far more enjoyable here and are not overrun with tourists.  This will  give you the chance to see Palawan in its natural beauty and bask its tranquility.

Port Barton Island Hopping: As with many areas of Palawan, exploring the nearby islands on an island hopping tour is a fantastic experience. Make sure you check out these islands your tour will visit.  Here are some of the ones that I enjoy:

  • Starfish Sandbar – Relax on this small sandbar surrounded by clear waters and visit with the the starfish residents.
  • Wide Reef – Great reef for viewing the reef with its outstanding marine life.  The reef has shallow areas for snorkeling as well as deeper areas for scuba diving.
  • Maxima Island Beach – Enjoy this island’s relaxing beach and calm waters. It’s a great place to stop for lunch and drink in the unspoiled quiet of Palawan.
